The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards 2020 will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. James Christian Kimmel is an American television host, comedian, writer, actor, and producer. He is the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show that premiered on ABC on January 26, 2003, at Hollywood Masonic Temple in Hollywood, California; and on April 1, 2019, at a secondary home, the Zappos Theater on the Las Vegas Strip. Kimmel hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012, 2016 and 2020, and the Academy Awards in 2017 and 2018.

The Television Academy previously said there would be 138 stars from 114 locations across 10 countries in attendance .Several celebs are confirmed for the ceremony including Gabrielle Union, Issa Rae, Anthony Anderson, J.J. Watt, Lena Waithe, Oprah Winfrey and a special performance by H.E.R. Jason Bateman, Sterling K. Brown, Morgan Freeman, Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, D-Nice, Randall Park, RuPaul, Patrick Stewart, Jason Sudeikis, Ty Burrell, Ken Jeong, Mindy Kaling, Tatiana Maslany and Bob Newhart have also been confirmed.

Aussies who are nominated


Hugh Jackman, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Hannah Gadsby and Sarah Snook are among the Aussies up for gongs.

Jackman and Blanchett are both up for best lead roles in a limited series or movie.

Collette was nominated for best supporting actress in the Netflix-produced Unbelievable, Gadsby was nominated for her Netflix special Douglas and Snook has a chance to take home the Emmy for best supporting actress in a drama series for her role in HBO's Succession.
